یک اسب وقتی در حاشیه قرار می گیرد کم فروغ می شود!هیچ پند  و موعظه ای برای یک آماتور به این اندازه شناخته شده نیست.و اگر چه خیلی  وقتها موارد بیشتر از یک استثنا هم برای این قانون وجود دارد،ولی این عبارت  برای همه کاملا جا افتاده است. با تمام اینها وقتیکه یک مورد اینجوری پیش می آید فقط قضیه اسب در گوشه صفحه نیست بلکه قضیه این است که یک چنین موردی بندرت کشف و بررسی  می شود.جدیدا،یک چنین مثالی باعث شد که ایوان چپارینوف درگیر یک همچیین مسئله ای با تمام مشکلاتش بشود،وقتیکه اسب بیچاره بوسیله یک فیل در گوشه صفحه گیر افتاد.
